That After-rain Breeze

After long hours of workout,
I step out on the open terrace.
Only to witness the soothing weather
That mesmerises me for a while.

Flowing like some soft music
through my hair, there goes the after-rain breeze
It’s a peaceful night, peaceful after very long
But this breeze is all what it is about.

Rains are beautiful,
These smooth winds after that even better.
So comforting,
As if asking me to forget everything for this moment.

Nights like these are rare in the city.
For this is a place only meant for chaos and clamour.
But once in a while, when the city sleeps.
Nights like these knock on the door, wearing a warm smile.

Not able to get enough of the calmness,
I stand there still.
Trying to soak every ounce of peace,
As it sweeps all my anxieties away, like they were never there.

I move back to head towards my bedroom,
For it’s a long day tomorrow, sleep is necessary.
But this breeze tends to hold me back,
Asking me to stay, stay a little longer.

Smiling, I stop there, staring at the moon,
Eyes closed, drenched again in my thoughts about the wonderful space.
Only if every day and every night could be this harmonious.
The breeze seems to settle, but my thoughts, not.
